The chart of accounts is the skeleton of your books — every journal line posts into one of these accounts. SYEZPOS seeds the standard set (cash, bank, inventory, sales, receivables, payables, common expenses); you'll mostly touch it to add your own.
The account types
| Type | Holds | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Asset | What you own | Cash, bank, inventory, equipment |
| Liability | What you owe | Supplier payables, loans |
| Equity | Owner's stake | Capital, drawings, retained profit |
| Revenue | Money earned | Sales, other income |
| Expense | Money spent | Rent, salaries, utilities |
Add an account
- Open Accounting → Chart of accounts.
- New account → name it, pick its type/group, save.
- It immediately appears in the pickers — e.g. a new expense account shows up in the cashbook's Pay Expense account list.
When you'll add one
- A new bank account or till → asset (then it appears as a cashbook account)
- A cost you want tracked separately → expense ("Delivery rider fuel")
- A loan → liability
- Owner's separate pot → equity
Note: Accounts with activity shouldn't be deleted — they carry history. Rename or stop using them instead; deleting breaks the audit trail reports rely on.
