The store builder (Settings → Online store) controls how the shop looks — a live preview sits beside the panels so every change shows immediately.
The panels
Work through the builder's rail — each opens a focused editor:
- Banner — the hero text customers see first (headline, subtext)
- Contact — the footer/contact details customers use to reach you
- Menus — the header navigation (which categories/pages link where)
- Sections — extra homepage blocks and how they're arranged
- Domain — the store's address (custom domain)
Changes are pending until you Publish — Discard abandons them. The live preview reflects your edits as you work.
Design principles that pay
- Banner says what you sell + why you, not a slogan. "Handmade leather shoes, delivered in 3 days" beats "Welcome to our store."
- Menu = your categories. Keep it shallow: the collections buyers actually browse, not the full back-office tree.
- Lead with the strongest products — the homepage sections should show the catalog at its best, not its complete.
Tip: Check the preview on a phone before publishing — most customers will see the mobile version, and a cramped hero headline is the first thing they judge.
