Is Shopify available in Pakistan? Cost in rupees, payments and the honest limits

Yes — Shopify works in Pakistan, and plenty of Pakistani stores run on it. But "available" and "made for" are different things. Here is what actually works, what costs more than the sticker suggests, and where the platform's assumptions collide with how Pakistan buys. For a direct head-to-head, see SYEZPOS vs Shopify.

Yes, it works — with three asterisks

You can sign up from Pakistan today, pick a theme, upload products and have a working online store this week. The website builder, hosting, SSL, product catalog and order management all work exactly as advertised. For a store selling to customers abroad, it is a solid choice.

The asterisks: billing is in US dollars, Shopify Payments is not supported in Pakistan, and the platform's defaults assume a card-paying customer — which most Pakistani buyers are not.

What it costs in rupees

The Basic plan starts around US$39 a month — roughly Rs 11,000 at current rates — and because billing is in dollars, the rupee cost drifts with the exchange rate. That is before the extras a typical Pakistani store ends up needing: a payment gateway app, a currency or COD plugin, and possibly a page builder for landing pages. If you also run a physical counter, POS Pro adds $89 per location per month.

A realistic all-in monthly figure for a store-plus-counter setup lands between Rs 30,000 and Rs 40,000 — before gateway transaction fees, which sit on top of every sale.

The payments problem

Shopify Payments — the platform's own card processor — does not support Pakistan. That single fact cascades: checkout relies on third-party gateways or manual methods, and the local rails most buyers prefer are not native options.

In practice, Pakistani Shopify stores typically offer COD as a manual payment method, collect JazzCash or EasyPaisa manually and confirm orders over WhatsApp. It works — but the platform does not track that cash to collection, does not reconcile courier payouts against orders, and leaves the ledger work to you or your accountant. Our ecommerce payments page shows what native local payments look like.

Where Shopify is still the right answer

To be fair: if you are building a brand aimed at international customers, or an online-only business scaling on paid social with an agency behind it, Shopify's ecosystem is genuinely ahead of anything local — the theme store, the app marketplace, the social catalog integrations. The USD billing stings less when your revenue is also in dollars.

The local alternative shape

A Pakistan-first system starts from the other direction: the counter POS, the COD workflow, the wallets and bank rails, the udhaar ledger and the books are the core — and the online store is built on top of that. SYEZPOS is built that way: cloud platform, storefront and POS on one catalog, checkout offering COD, JazzCash, EasyPaisa, RAAST, bank transfer, split payments and customer credit, with every payment reconciling in one cashbook. Flat PKR plans run from free to Rs 7,000 a month — see pricing.

Neither answer is wrong. Match the platform to how your customers pay and where your revenue sits — not to which logo is bigger.

Frequently asked questions

Is Shopify available in Pakistan?

Yes — anyone in Pakistan can open a Shopify store. But Shopify Payments is not supported here, billing is in USD, and local payment methods need workarounds.

How much does Shopify cost in rupees?

Basic is around US$39/month (roughly Rs 11,000, moving with the dollar). A full store-plus-counter setup with POS Pro and apps typically lands above Rs 30,000 a month.

Can Shopify accept JazzCash or EasyPaisa?

Not natively. Most stores offer them as manual payment methods and confirm over WhatsApp — workable, but the platform does not track or reconcile those payments.

What is the best Shopify alternative in Pakistan?

For a business that runs a counter alongside online sales, SYEZPOS combines the storefront, POS, local payments and accounting in one system at flat PKR pricing. For a pure online international brand, Shopify remains strong.
